The eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over Picayune on August 29, 2005. Katrina first made landfall approximately 75 miles directly south of Picayune. Winds were measured in Picayune exceeding 130 mph. Rheogistics prepared as well as possible for the storm and was fortunate to sustain only minor damage to our building. Our process and inventory were not damaged. Our plant was down for nine days due to lack of electricity. Although our employees suffered through great personal stress and discomfort, they continued to make shipments from inventory during the days the plant was down and pulled together to run production 24 hours per day, seven days per week shortly after power was restored to our site. Supply of our products to one customer was unfortunately interrupted for ten days. Most other customers continued to receive their shipments as ordered and on-time.

Rheogistics is a privately owned company focused exclusively on the development, manufacturing, and application of lubricants for plastics. The management of Rheogistics has a long history of involvement in the wax and PVC lubricants industries. Hank Renken, the President and COO of Rheogistics, was co-founder and President of Ter Chemicals in Pass Christian, Mississippi from 1980 to 1997. Ter Chemicals manufactured waxes and PVC lubricants sold under the Hoechst, Clariant, and Ter labels. Tom Pedersen, the Chairman and Technical Director of Rheogistics, was founder and President (1982 to 1997) of Rheochem, a Columbia, Missouri manufacturer of PVC lubricants now owned and operated by Honeywell.
